Return To Mexico

An Amoveo Group Story

Oct 21, 2021

Last month, I led a team of six to Maneadero, Mexico for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. It was great to see our Amoveo partners, which we hadn’t seen in over a year, And if we are honest, to eat some amazing tacos.

Amoveo partners with Oasis Boys Home in Maneadero which also has a related school. As you can imagine, the school has been affected the same way most schools have been around the world. If classes can’t meet, teachers set up times to meet with the students,  give them homework, and later tutor them through the questions they have.

We also met with a family of five young kids. They shared their story of how tough the pandemic has been on them financially. They live in the mountains without electricity or running water. They explain how food has been scarce over the last year. Toilet paper was the least of their concerns.

The leaders of Oasis Boy’s Home, Juan, and Rosie, continue to press on to provide amazing help to helpless boys. Unfortunately,  their van broke down and now they have no way to transport all the boys together. Thus, an adult must stay back at the home with the boys all the time... But their hope does not waiver. They have great faith and hope to build a home for kids with Special Needs.

They did ask me if I knew of anyone that had a van they could donate to Oasis so they could travel together again. Please, if you have a van, know of someone who does, or would like to donate funds toward the purchase of one, please contact us at Amoveo.

Can you imagine going a year without pizza? And, I’m not talking about a diet. A highlight for the trip was when one of the guys I brought bought pizza for all the boys at Oasis. It was the first time they had pizza in over a year. The smiles and laughs were infectious. Kids are still filled with hope. The work goes on. The needs remain. And the love is still there.
