Haiti’s literacy rate is 61% – 64% for males and 57% for females. (CIA Factbook Nov 2015) and 50 percent of children do not attend school. (World Bank 2013). Furthermore, It is estimated that 30% of children attending primary school will not make it to third grade; 60% will abandon school before sixth grade. (UNICEF 2008)
Amoveo Haiti's "Thumbs up for Education" sponsorship program enables families to keep their children in school and further their education. At Amoveo we not only believe that needs vary based on the community but they also vary based off of a family. In order to invest with this kind of diligence, it requires for our team to be embedded in communities, working and listening to its leaders. Because of each child's situation being unique the money can go towards tuition costs, uniforms, books, food and/or transportation.
Education is a human right and is central to achieving many other sustainable development outcomes in communities. Our goal at Amoveo is to invest in lasting solutions. For this reason we have committed to funding this program 100% via donations. Donations for this project are offered at several levels of investment with hopes of making it available to anyone to participate. So wether you are a foundation, church, school or individual there is a place for you to get involved.
“My husband and I both work and still are not able to pay for our daughter's school because this country is getting more difficult each day. I was only able to pay for her uniform and some tuition but I knew I could not buy the books or finish paying for the year. I tell God thank you eat day when I send my daughter to school because we were able to get help paying for school and she gets to continue learning and preparing for her future.”
